Young Enterprise (YE) is the UK’s leading charity that empowers young people to harness their personal and business skills. As part of the CAP programme, Young Enterprise is enabling young people to develop the knowledge and attitudes they need to succeed, and making the connection between school, the world of work and building on the eight key skills:

  • Communication
  • Confidence
  • Financial Capability
  • Initiative
  • Organisation
  • Problem-solving
  • Teamwork
  • Resilience

OneSchool Global UK is pleased to announce that the whole scheme is being rolled out nationally to every campus with much vigour and enthusiasm.

YE aligns the academic outcomes of CAP and introduces the practical real-world life skills of running a business within Year 12, with the opportunity to create real and long-lasting companies. On Tuesday 11th July, the Raiders sixth formers from Cottingham and Long Eaton headed off for an exciting day at Leeds Bradford airport for a regional Young Enterprise competition for all of Yorkshire and Humber. They competed during the afternoon and evening against 11 other schools, so it was a long and challenging day. New tasks were set by representatives from Monarch and Leeds/Bradford Airport and the entrants had to come up with ways to attract customers to Monarch airlines at Leeds Bradford Airport and ways of rewarding their staff. They had to complete their business ideas within two hours and share them in a fourminute presentation to a large audience and the judging panel. At the end of the day, two places were awarded – and Team ‘Cott-Eaton’ walked away with the prize for first place! A huge well done to all that participated and represented the two schools.
